Sunshine Coast Grammar School is proud to announce that our Principal, Mrs Anna Owen, has been selected as a finalist for the Leadership Award for Driving School Improvement in the 2024 Teacher Awards. This recognition celebrates the exceptional work of educators and school leaders who are making significant contributions to student achievement and wellbeing.
Mrs Owen’s leadership has been instrumental in transforming Grammar into a leading educational institution. Since her appointment in 2022, Mrs Owen has spearheaded a new strategic design that has elevated the school’s status. A key aspect of this transformation was the development of the People, Planet and Progress framework, which fosters a strong sense of belonging and aligns with the school’s dedication to environmental stewardship, social responsibility and sustainable growth.
Under Mrs Owen guidance, the school has also integrated the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals into its curriculum, co-curricular activities and community engagement programs. This integration has provided the school with a clear sense of purpose and reinforced its commitment to the greater good.
Mrs Owen’s focus on personalised education has created pathways for a diverse community of students, helping them find their interests and passions. She encourages students to apply these passions to a purpose, creating a brighter future for all and empowering them to contribute meaningfully throughout their lives.
In her submission for the award, Mrs Owen highlighted the importance of intergenerational justice, quoting the All-Blacks’ mantra, “Know who we are; evolve for the sake of those who will come after.” This philosophy is central to the school’s purpose program, which aims to educate current students while being mindful of future generations.
Mrs Owen believes in leading with influence by identifying the gifts within the community, seeking gratitude in both tangible and intangible elements, and encouraging generosity of time, enthusiasm, expertise, and wisdom.
