Sunshine Coast Grammar School’s music department hosted its annual Music Festival on Friday, 3 June with over 500 music students from years one to twelve performing on stage in front of eager friends and family.
The whole school community event has been six months in the making for Director of Music, Mrs Vicki Dede.
“Hours of rehearsals have gone into this Festival and all of our students have worked extremely hard to prepare for the event. I am so excited to provide our students with the opportunity to experience the thrill of performing”, said Mrs Dede.
From food trucks and a bar to face-painting and music merchandise, the free Music Festival is a highlight on Sunshine Coast Grammar School’s calendar that saw approximately 1000 people attend from the community.
Performances commenced with the Primary Music Curriculum musicians followed by stand out performances from all of the school’s music ensembles, including Strings, Choirs, Wind Orchestra and the Symphonic Band as well as Rock Bands. There was music to suit every taste with a spectacular laser light show concluding the Festival that left everyone buzzing over the weekend.
“There was an extra buzz in the air on campus. We are thrilled to showcase the talents of our musicians and bring our school community together”, said Mrs Dede.
