Grammar Community Packs Hope for Families in Need

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we are proud to announce that we have supplied over 150 backpacks filled with essential school supplies to families in need across the Sunshine Coast. The Shack Community Centre, a long-standing partner of our school, collected the backpacks on Wednesday and will distribute them to families over the holiday season.

The initiative is made possible by the school’s acclaimed servant leadership program, Grammar Helping Hands, and the generosity of Year 5 students, who donated funds raised through their recent annual Market Day Stall. Our staff play a pivotal role in driving this initiative each year, working closely with students to ensure the appeal’s success.

“This appeal highlights the generosity of our students and their dedication to helping those in need,” shared Coordinator of Community & Service Mr Ben Princehorn.

The Shack collected the backpacks on Wednesday and will distribute them to local families over the holiday season. These supplies provide crucial support to families facing hardship and offer children a strong foundation as they begin the new school year.

Grammar Helping Hands has been active in the community for over 15 years and is central to the school’s commitment to community engagement. It provides students and staff the opportunities to give their time and energy to help others, while also fostering a strong sense of social responsibility.

For more than 14 years, Sunshine Coast Grammar School has been a proud partner with The Shack Community Centre and has donated close to 500 backpacks since the appeal began in 2019. We look forward to continuing this integral partnership in the years to come.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our staff, students, and wider Grammar community for supporting this year’s appeal and helping provide children with the best start to the 2025 school year.
