A wise person once said that our Grammar Heads of School are ultimately people in charge of people, culture builders and the glue.
Following a rigorous recruitment process supported by Hutton Consulting which attracted a high calibre of candidates, we are delighted to inform you that we are formally appointing Craig Angel as Head of Primary School, effective from 1 April 2023. Craig will join our School Executive team, alongside Lyn Stokes (Business Manager), Darren McLeod-Paterson (Head of Secondary) and Anna Owen (Principal).
Prior to joining us, Craig was a Principal at Cobbitty Public School in New South Wales. He relocated to the Sunshine Coast and joined our community in 2004 as a Primary Teacher. Over the last 20 years, Craig has successfully progressed from classroom teacher to Dean of Primary 3-6 to Assistant Head of Primary School.
At the request and with the full support of Mr Paul Clegg in his absence, Craig was promoted to Acting Head of Primary in April, 2022. A mark of the School’s ability to develop and promote quality staff within the school, Craig’s loyalty, commitment, professionalism and resilience for his staff and students during a challenging year cemented the opinion that he is the right person for the job. In addition to 2022, it is fair to say that Craig has been a fundamental pillar of the Primary School’s evolution and there is no one who knows the Grammar Primary School better.
Craig is passionate about primary education and over the years has supported the development of educational programs such as Learning @ Grammar literacy programs and the introduction of the inquiry approach to learning. He is also a strong supporter of co-curriculum activities as highlighted in the recent Grammar Life Co-curricular Expo.
Craig is a well-respected member of our School community, frequently participating in programs such as Grammar Helping Hands, Chapel and social events. Externally, he is also an active volunteer at Mooloolaba Surf Lifesaving Club. He is a supportive leader and creates a nurturing and safe environment for both staff and students. He is dedicated to developing a shared commitment to the School’s vision and Strategic Design. Given his ability to adapt and navigate new challenges and his commitment to a growth mindset culture, Craig will continue to be a great asset as we move forward in enhancing our Primary offering.
Please congratulate Craig on his appointment. We are looking forward to working with him and bringing our future vision for the Primary School to life.
