Sunshine Coast Grammar School is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Maureen Cummings, who has been a cornerstone of our school community for over two decades. As Head of Primary Sport for an incredible 21 years, Miss Cummings has made an enduring impact on both our students and the wider sporting community.
his year, she was honoured with life membership of the Sunshine Coast Independent School Sports Association (SCISSA), an organisation she co-founded in 2003. Her dedication to sport extends further, with over 20 years of involvement as a regional and district convenor for sports such as tennis, hockey, cross country, athletics, triathlon and swimming.
A passionate triathlete, Miss Cummings first took up the sport in 1988 and competed in the Commonwealth Games. This November, she celebrated a major milestone, completing her 25th Noosa Triathlon.
“I like being active and keeping fit. Triathlons are one of my favourite events to compete in,” Miss Cummings shared.
Looking ahead, Miss Cummings has her sights set on the World Championships next year, having already secured an impressive second place in a recent qualifier, finishing just behind the reigning world champion.
