Sunshine Coast Grammar Rugby recently hosted its highly anticipated annual Captain’s Dinner Awards Evening, a prestigious event celebrating the achievements of our First and Second XV Boys and First X Girls rugby teams.
The night was a true celebration of Grammar’s rugby program, honouring current players, coaches and past alumni who continue to uphold the Grammar spirit both on and off the spirit.
The evening was made more special with the attendance of past presidents, players and our celebrated Team of the Decade. Among the notable guests were professional rugby players and Grammar Alumni, including Tate McDermott (Australian Wallabies), Louis Werchon (Queensland Reds), Luke Aiken (Auckland Blues), who participated in an insightful Q&A session.
During the session, the trio shared their experiences from their time in Grammar Rugby and reflected on the valuable lessons they have carried into their professional rugby careers. They offered advice on key topics such as coping strategies for high-pressure situations, balancing personal and professional commitments and maintaining focus on their goals.
The evening was also dedicated to celebrating our 2024 award recipients, recognising their hard work, dedication and excellence throughout the season. We also celebrated our Life Long Players for their long-standing commitment to Grammar Rugby.
The memorable evening highlighted the exceptional talent within our rugby program as well as the strong bonds and community spirit that continue to define Grammar Rugby.
We are incredibly proud of our athletes, past and present, and look forward to building upon this legacy for many seasons to come.
