Year 12 Sunshine Coast Grammar student, Juliet Santitto has secured a prestigious four-year tennis scholarship to attend the University of Oregon, a Division One University, beginning January 2025. Juliet’s remarkable talent and dedication to tennis have earned her this opportunity after being on the radar of several U.S. Universities.
A coach from the University of Oregon travelled to Australia to witness Juliet’s performance firsthand, offering her the scholarship immediately after the competition. Ranked as Queensland’s top player in her age group for two years, Juliet has proudly represented Grammar and the state, achieving impressive results. Earlier this year, Juliet represented Tennis Queensland at the national Tennis Pizzey Cup in Hobart and was elected female team captain. Competing fiercely in both the team and individual events, she narrowly missed victory in a thrilling final against the top seed. Juliet’s accomplishments continued throughout the year as she led the Grammar Tennis team to victory in the State Finals as team captain.
Juliet started playing tennis at three years old and after joining Grammar in 2019, quickly became an integral member of our esteemed Tennis of Excellence Program. Juliet continues to train daily as part of the Program, which has been recognised as Tennis Queensland’s Most Outstanding School – Excellence for two consecutive years (2022 & 2023) and was nominated as a finalist in the 2024 Awards. Juliet’s dedication has earned her numerous accolades, and is now the recipient of Tennis Queensland’s Anthony Richardson Regional Female Junior Athlete of the Year Award for the second consecutive year (2023 & 2024).
Alongside her tennis pursuits, Juliet plans to major in Psychology at University. She is excited for the challenges ahead, which include competing in various tennis tournaments across the U.S. on weekends, all while continuing to progress her game with the ultimate goal of reaching the international tennis tour.
Directed by our Head Coach Mr Clint Fyfe, our Tennis Program has shown a commitment to nurturing young tennis talent and has produced state and national champions.
