It’s Library and Information Week (25 – 31 July) and we are taking this opportunity to celebrate our Library Team and the important role they play in our community here at Grammar.
We are celebrating by encouraging Grammar students and families to renew their relationship with Grammar’s library or even your local community library. Perhaps that means getting back to the library, returning to a project you’ve been working on, or maybe it is just a reminder to return your library books and hire some more!
From weekly sessions with our youngest book lovers to helping our senior students navigate databases for their research projects, our dedicated Library Team has a wealth of knowledge and is here to help you thrive.
The Library Team is actively engaged with the Grammar community throughout the year, promoting initiatives like National Simultaneous Story Time, Scholastic Book Club, and the Premier’s Reading Challenge, as well as important social initiatives, such as Harmony Day and NAIDOC Week.
‘Grammar library is a place where all are welcomed. It is a safe place to share and collaborate with others or somewhere to escape into your own world from books,’ said Marcia Fisher, Director of Library Information Services.
So what is it about working in Grammar’s Library that the team enjoys so much? Seeing the joy of reading spread across campus of course! From the excited Kindy children picking out a book for the first time to senior students dressing up as their favourite character during Book Week, there are many programs the Team initiates throughout the year to encourage a lifelong love of reading for our students.
There is no better place to find collections full of material for your next project or a new book to immerse yourself in than the library. So here it is, from our wonderful Library Team to you – a list of book recommendations for all the book lovers out there.
Primary Library recommendation – Jake Maddox book series
Secondary Library recommendation – Ali Cross book series
We hope that even the most reluctant reader will find a book to enjoy. And if there isn’t one to your liking, please visit the friendly team in the library.
Happy reading!
